Sea Swallow - the Folk and Blues Duo - (not the migratory bird) is heading back to Broome for a series of gigs.
On 21 August, they will be appearing at the Roey in the Lounge Bar. Joining them will be Broome (and Melbourne) bluesman of note, Aubrey Maher.
Sea Swallow - Claire Moodie and Bill Lawrie - played some of their first shows as a duo while living in Broome through 2019.
Since then they have played across the south of WA and as for distant as the Scottish Highlands, steadily developing their sound and their songs. Along the way they picked up the award for West Australian Music Country Song of the Year in 2023 and have played everything from noisy bars and big rodeos to concerts and festivals, as well as releasing two albums.
For Bill, the Roey gig will be chance to play his blues harp again alongside Aubrey Maher.
Bill and Aubrey played together in the mighty “Jukebox Blues Band” a few years back.
Aubrey learned is craft, working for many years in the Melbourne blues scene, before settling in Broome a decade or so ago. He is an exceptional interpreter of the blues.
The Roey Lounge should be the perfect venue for the show - a set featuring the harmonies, the songs, and stage chemistry that are Sea Swallow hallmarks - and a set of authentic, sweet and gritty country blues featuring Sea Swallow and Aubrey Maher.
Tickets are $20 at the door. Online tickets will be available soon. It will be a memorable show. Looking forward to seeing you there !
