What You’ll Learn:
Our program follows the industry-standard method of animal CPR and is designed to give you confidence until veterinary care is available.
Topics include:
- Safety when handling sick or injured animals
- How to perform emergency triage and recognize life-threatening conditions
- Restraining and transporting animals safely
- Providing first aid while en route to veterinary care
- Taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, CRT) and knowing normal vs. abnormal readings
- Building and using a pet first aid kit
- Managing common emergencies: wounds, poisoning, burns, choking, and more
- Performing CPR on dogs and cats (PetCPR+ Certification valid for 2 years)
Tip: Bring a stuffed animal to practice your skills on during class (optional, but recommended).
Continuing Education Credits
This course is approved to award CEUs:
- 3 CEU for veterinary professionals
- 3.5 CEU for CCPDT dog trainers
- 3 CEU for IAABC 3 CEU for NADOI
