To honor the men and women who have proudly served our nation, Brookfield Zoo Chicago invites the public to a special Veterans Day ceremony at the Discovery Center.
Schedule of Activities at Discovery Center:
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- A display of military memorabilia and vehicles
- Learn about various services offered to veterans from veteran organizations such as: Honor Flight, Tails of Redemption, and others
11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
- Meet ambassador animals
12:00 to 12:45 p.m.
- Enjoy a performance by the Legacy Girls
12:45 to 1:00 p.m.
- See the posting of colors and a performance of the National Anthem
1:00 to 1:10 p.m.
- Welcoming remarks
1:15 to 1:50 p.m.
- Performance by the Jesse White Tumblers
2:00 to 2:30 p.m.
- Meet and greet with other veterans and representatives from veteran organizations
2:30 p.m.
- Retiring the colors
To show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the men and women in the United States Armed Forces, Brookfield Zoo Chicago offers free admission to all active, reservist, and retired members of the military every day. Qualified personnel who present a valid ID at one of the Zoo's admission booths will be admitted free of charge.
