Our “mermaid” for the Far East is based on the Japanese kappa. The kappa is a water deity, and is often portrayed as humanoid with a turtle-like shell. This week, we will be making a turtle-inspired bead embroidered coin purse. We have lots of oval cabochons for you to choose from for the turtle shell, and the coin purses are plain canvas with a colored zipper in various color options.

To make yours similar to Joy’s sample, you will need:
- Coin purse
- Oval cabochon
- 8° seed bead, 1 color
- 11° seed bead, multiple colors
- 15° seed bead, 1 color, for head and flippers
