We are back again collecting books for our annual
Marc's Army Book Drive For Kids!
We will again be donating to the Greene Cancer Center and to the Brockton Department of Children and Families.
The last 2 years we have had such an incredible response from the community and hope we can have the same impact this year!!
Why have we held this book drive the last 5 years? And why do we donate to the cancer center and DCF?
Our family lost Marc Botelho in 2021 to Glioblastoma. He was a son, husband, father and brother. Those who know our family know that Marc was adopted. This detail makes no difference to our family, He will always be our parents son and our brother.
At 1 week old Marc was put in foster care, our parents took custody of him when he was 3 months old and from that moment on he was ours. Our parents worked closely with Brockton DCF during the 4 &1/2 years that they fought to adopt him and began fostering other kids during that time. They were finally able to adopt Marc when he was 5 years old. Our family knows how important social services is to these children and how much donations from the caring people in our community can make such a difference to the kids.
Marc loved to read and we want to make a difference by donating books. Giving the gift of a book can help brighten the day of a child going through some really hard times in their young life.
Brockton Hospital and The Greene Cancer Center require ALL books be new so we will only accept new books. I will post and Amazon link to our book wish list for easy ordering or feel free to drop off or send along some of your favorite reads for babies, small kids and teenagers. Coloring books and crayons are also welcomed and an amazing option!
