💫Creativity with criticality and care 💫
The Fine Art and Design (FAAD) master’s degree programme is tailored for students aspiring to cultivate their individual artistic and design practices within a collaborative learning environment. Emphasizing creative exploration and cooperation, the programme encourages self-reflection and critical analysis in a supportive setting. The FAAD programme runs for four semesters over two academic years. Upon successful programme completion, students are awarded an internationally recognized master’s degree (MgA., Magister Artis).

💫A diverse range of current approaches to contemporary art and design 💫
The FAAD programme encourages a broad range of experimental, interdisciplinary, and collaborative approaches to art and design practice. In addition to the permanent base in the FAAD studio, students receive support in one of the sixteen FFA specialist studios or in the Visiting Artist’s Studio. The design field is represented by two independent Graphic Design Studios, the Game Media Studio and the Product Design Studio. Studios in the fields of intermedia and digital arts include the Environment, Performance, Video, Intermedia, Photography, and Body Design. Fine art studios include the Sculpture Studio, Spatial Design Studio, three independent Painting Studios, and a Drawing and Printmaking Studio. Additionally, students can apply to the Visiting Artist’s Studio led by a different internationally acclaimed artist each semester. During their studies, students can take advantage of the specialized supervision of up to three different media-specific or conceptually focused studios, thus strengthening their work’s intermedial or interdisciplinary character. Studio instruction is complemented by theoretical lectures covering art history, aesthetics, philosophy, sociology, and a selection of elective courses tailored to each studio’s requirements. Education and technology related tasks are supported by our Departments of Audiovisual Technology, Information Technology, Traditional Media, and 3D Technology—including a 3D Studio established in 2007 as the first of its kind in the Czech Republic. Our tutors and lecturers are distinguished artists, designers, and theoreticians actively contributing to the contemporary art scene whose teaching methodology is informed by their artistic practices and experiences. Members of our staff and alumni enjoy international recognition in the realms of fine art and design. Student works are regularly presented to the public, facilitating engagement with gallerists, curators, and collectors. Significant support is provided by the FFA Gallery which serves as a vibrant communication space for the emerging generation of artists and curators.

💫The city at the heart of Europe 💫
Brno is an inspiring city popular among students. Brno boasts 13 universities and over 80,000 university students, constituting one-fifth of its 380,000 residents. Students appreciate the congenial international community, diverse leisure options, and proximity to cultural hubs such as Prague, Vienna, and Bratislava. The Czech Republic is recognized as one of the top twelve peaceful countries worldwide (Global Peace Index 2023).
