🚢 HMS Saucy – 85th Anniversary Commemoration ⚓
On Thursday, 4th September 2025, Brixham will come together to honour the memory of the brave crew of HMS Saucy, tragically lost 85 years ago to the day.
Of her 30 crew, 26 perished. Among them were 18 men from Brixham, and of those, 7 were from the same extended family. This was one of the darkest chapters in our town’s wartime history, and it is only right that we gather to remember their sacrifice.

🕙 Programme of Events
10.00am – The Chart Room First Class Coffee Lounge opens (teas, coffees & light refreshments available)
12.30–1.30pm – Optional Scottish-themed Afternoon Tea (by booking) – a respectful nod to the final resting place of many of the crew

✍️ Family Legacy Signing
Before the HMS Saucy life ring goes on permanent display at The Chart Room (and for a short time at Brixham Heritage Museum, who have kindly supported our research), family members will be invited to sign their names alongside those of their lost relatives.
This will ensure the memorial is not only about those who gave their lives, but also about the families who carry their memory forward.
⸻
📣 An Invitation
We warmly invite all descendants, relatives, and the people of Brixham to join us.
Those who wish to say a few words during the afternoon are most welcome.
This will be a day of remembrance, reflection, and community spirit. We also hope the press and media will be present to help share Brixham’s story of sacrifice and resilience.
