Stop Motion Taster Day

Get stuck in with Helena and Jon as they show you how to animate using two very different set ups.

Sand on glass - This expressive and unusual stop motion method has you drawing images in sand and then capturing them as still images to stitch into animation sequences. At this station Helena has a sheet of sand on glass on top of a light box set up under a camera that feeds its images directly into the industry standard software Dragonframe. She talks students through the process of stitching those images into a sequence.  Helena will then email the final short animations to participants. 

Paper puppets - At this station use a handy template to color, cut out, and build your own paper puppet. Helena will then show you how to capture images with your own phones and animate using a  free app called stopmotion. These puppets and apps are yours to take home and continue your animation journey at home 

Each session lasts 3 hours, but you are welcome to go early if you have satisfied your stop motion curiosity. 

If you are under 18 you must be accompanied by an adult
