About the event

Chris Jones/Adam Stokes Sextet Play Carla Bley
Join us for the first in our new season of concerts as Bassist Chris Jones premieres his arrangements of works by celebrated composer Carla Bley. Chris Jones is one of the UK’s top bass players, known for his huge sound, inventive rhythmic games and solid time, evoking comparisons to the likes of Charlie Haden and Larry Grenadier.

A graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire where he studied with Dave Holland and Thomas Morgan, Chris has been a main stay on the Jazz touring circuit for the past fifteen years performing with Stan Sultzman, Niki Illes, Sara Coleman, Iain Ballamy and many more. Chris will be joined by a carefully curated band of Bristols most inventive improvisers to reimagine some of Carla Bley’s best loved compositions.
