Celebrate the shift into Autumn with a calming and creative outdoor workshop facilitated by certified wellbeing coach and former sustainability researcher Dr Miriam Ricci. Set in the biodiverse sanctuary of Arnos Vale, this two-hour nourishing experience blends mindful movement and walking with a freewriting session in nature – a gentle invitation to slow down, tune in and reconnect.
You’ll be guided through a sensory walk that invites awareness of autumn’s richness: the rustle of falling leaves, the shifting light, earthy scents, and the quietening mood of the season. By walking slowly and with intention, we create space to notice, breathe, and arrive fully into the moment.
We’ll then settle into a peaceful spot for freewriting – a simple and powerful practice of writing continuously in response to a prompt, without worrying about grammar or structure. It’s not about being a ‘writer’, but an invitation to let your thoughts and feelings flow freely onto the page with no judgement. You won’t need to share anything you write, unless you want to. This is time just for you – to reflect, explore, and enjoy the creative spark that often emerges when we pause and connect with our inner and outer landscapes.
We'll begin and end with gentle body movement and grounding practices, and close the session by creating a collaborative poem from lines you choose to share – a lovely way to mark the season and our shared experience.
This workshop offers:
A nourishing reset for body and mind
Boosted creativity and self-awareness
A deeper connection with the rhythms of nature
Space to reflect, write, and simply be
Please bring:
a pen
a notebook or writing pad with a firm cover (suitable for writing while standing or sitting outdoors)
a small mat, cushion, or something to sit on
comfortable shoes (we’ll walk on both tarmacked and woodland paths)
weather-appropriate clothing
your own refreshments
Whether you practise mindfulness or not, this Autumn session is for you. Come as you are. Leave feeling grounded, uplifted and more connected to yourself, each other and the world around you.
