Join BUD (Bristol Ultimate Development) on the 11th of November at Shine Sports Hall (not to be mistaken with Shine Sports Ground!) to learn the basics of ultimate frisbee.
This session is free and available to all, new to either BUD or Ultimate Frisbee, so if you've never played before or played many years ago and are in need of a refresher this will be a great first session to attend. All sessions that are held by BUD are beginner friendly and anyone new is welcome at any time so if you're unable to attend this session but would still be interested in joining, please feel free to join our Facebook group to keep up to date about our regular sessions.

Please wear clothing you feel comfortable exercising and moving around in, including sensible footwear (ie trainers) and a light and a dark coloured top - this is for separating people out in to teams. Also please bring a bottle of water as the hall can get warm once you start moving around!
The session will roughly follow the below plan:
7:30 - 7:50: Basics of Throwing: Team up with any of our existing members and practice throwing the frisbee, this is something that we do at the start of every session to get in to the swing of things!
7:50 - 8:00: Basic Rules Explanation: At this point we'll pass over to Lucy, our head coach, who will talk us through the basics of the game, rules and how to score.
8:00 - 8:15: Break in to teams: During this time we will split everyone into 2 teams. This will be an opportunity for everyone to introduce themselves and to have any questions answered by existing members.
8:15 - 9:15: Games! Put what we've learnt so far in the session in to practice and work in your teams to score points!
9:15 - 9:30: Spirit: So one thing that's different from other sports is that in Ultimate Frisbee there's no referee. Instead at the end of every match, one nominated member from each team discusses how the game went, what they enjoyed, and if there were any concerns. This is often accompanied by a ✨️spirit game✨️ which is just a bit of fun at the end of the match.
