This is an experiential workshop, offering the opportunity to experience the classic IFS 'Conference Table' format through IFS Intuitive Drawing. Insights from participation and group sharing are a key aspect of developing facility with IFS, offering both professional and personal development.
Conference Table involves inviting all parts relating to a topic to gather in circle together with Self. Through Drawing into Self, the format is developed into an externalised process suitable for use with both individuals and groups, with the focus in this workshop being on 1-to-1 client sessions.
WORKSHOP OUTLINE
1) introduction to using the exercise with individuals & groups
2) experiential process involving all participants
3) sharing in dyads/triads
4) group reflections and processing
5) Q&A on using the format with clients
DRAWING INTO SELF is a comprehensive externalisation method for doing IFS with individuals and groups, devised by Ruth Culver. It combines the IFS protocol with guided somatic mark-making, using pastel crayons on paper. By following the somatic energy of parts, Drawing into Self develops embodied connection, and often reveals subconsciously-held information. It offers a way to work with multiple parts within the system, bringing clarity and reducing overwhelm. It supports easier unblending and builds relationships between parts and Self, and offers an accessible way for people to continue connecting with their parts outside the therapy room. No skill is needed, just than the ability to scribble and curiosity to explore. There is no goal to 'make art' - the drawing is abstract and simply a result of the IFS process.

WORKSHOP MATERIALS
You will need to have the following materials ready:-
• A3 paper (twice the size of normal office paper) - in a pad, spiral book or loose clipped to a board.
• Box of about 50 oil pastels e.g. this set is good quality. Chalk pastels are also fine. Markers, paints or pencil-type crayons are NOT suitable.
• Please use an ethernet cable connection if possible, as this usually creates a more stable signal.
• Please experiment in advance with your camera set-up, as you will need to adjust it during the workshop. This is so Ruth can see both your face and drawing enabling her to pace the guided drawing process accordingly. A laptop is ideal as it is easy to adjust — placed at right angles to you (e.g. along the short side of a desk) and raised up on a box or pile of books.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Ruth Culver is Certified and Level 3 trained in IFS, and specialises in somatic and creative integrations. She offers experiential workshops and trainings both online and in-person, and also works individually with adolescents and adults in Brighton (UK).
Her interest in trauma, attachment and resilience led to the creation of the The Survive/Thrive Spiral infographic, which maps together IFS and Polyvagal Theory. It is used by mental health professionals and individuals across the globe, and can be downloaded free from her website in a wide range of languages.
Ruth has also devised two other IFS integrations: Drawing into Self: a method for doing IFS though guided intuitive drawing (for individuals and groups), and IFS Constellations: a method for doing IFS through the somatic group resonance process of constellations.
Ruth has been a guest on a number of podcasts including IFS Talks and has been published in The International Journal of Trauma. She is currently creating a certified training course for Drawing into Self.
