After last year’s fantastic turnout, Apple Day is back – and it’s going to be even more fun for the whole family! Join us on Sunday 26th October, from 11am to 2pm, for a lively celebration of apples, harvest and community spirit.
There will be delicious seasonal treats like Dorset Apple Cake, toffee apples, and freshly pressed apple juice from our own Estate orchards, alongside local cider and more mouthwatering goodies. Don’t miss live pressing demos by Noddy of Noddy’s Cider – a hit with all ages – and fascinating talks from local author James Crowden on cider-making and rural life.
Kids can enjoy live storytelling and music, lawn games and a Pumpkin Trail, while adults can soak up the lively atmosphere (and maybe a cider or two).
Feeling competitive? Enter our Apple Cake Competition for the chance to win a £30 Symondsbury gift voucher and apple glory! Dorset apple cake is an important part of the county’s heritage, baked with tangy fruit, warm spice and with a scrumptious crunchy top. If you have a family recipe, come and show us how good it is – and if you haven’t made one before, this is a sign for you to give it a go.
Competition Entry Details: Bring your cake on a white paper plate with your name and contact details on the back to The Old Pottery between 9am and 10.30am on the day. Judging will be done by Symondsbury Estate owner and expert cook, Julia Colfox, and cakes can be collected between 2pm and 3.30pm.
Whether you’re here for the food, the fun or the fresh country air, Apple Day at Symondsbury Estate is a perfect autumn day out for all ages. Bring the kids, bring your appetite – and we’ll see you there!
