Information on the fall NEARA conference is available at
https://neara.org/conferences/2025-11-07.html . November 7 - 9 in Bridgewater Massachusetts
The Fall 2025 NEARA Conference will be at the Moakley Center Auditorium (Google Maps) of Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater Massachusetts on the second weekend of November. We have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Middleborough MA.
The Bridgewater area is rich in history and prehistory, with weirs, grinding stones, petroglyphs, stone walls and chambers, historic inscriptions, pulpit rocks, "praying village" sites, and many landmarks associated with King Philip's War.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Sara Baires.
Dr. Baires is an archaeologist of ancient urbanism, religion, and Indigenous North American cities. Her research explores how communities constructed, inhabited, and experienced sacred landscapes -- particularly at Cahokia, the largest pre-Columbian city north of Mexico. Her research includes recognition of the lunar standstill and other celestial relationships at Cahokia.
