The Reel Thing

If you love movies and love talking about them, then you’re invited to join Cumberland County Library’s new film discussion club, The Reel Thing, for an afternoon film followed by a thought-provoking discussion. The club will meet one Saturday every month, and club members take turns picking the films we’ll watch and discuss at upcoming meetings. Our next meeting is on Saturday, March 28 from 1-4 pm.

In this classic comedy-drama from Hollywood’s “Golden Age” starring Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, and Rosalind Russell, and with an all-female cast, a cabal of catty and chatty high-society women chime in on the affairs of a wife and mother dealing with an adulterous husband. Based on a hit Broadway play of the same name by Claire Booth Luce and featuring a famous fashion show sequence in eye-popping color, The Women has been preserved in the National Film Registry for its cultural significance.
