Lunch compliments of the Oaks of Brevard will be served at 12:00. A meal of hot dogs and hamburgers.

Andy’s music takes you back to the days of true Appalachian sounds, families enjoyed sitting on their front porch on a summer afternoon.

Yvonne McCall Dickson will kick off our story telling with history of the Cherokee. Sandra Ziegler will be present showing her father
Charles’s collection of Indian artifacts.
Next Vanessa Cole tells the history of drovers that passed through our mountains with their livestock taking it to markets in South Carolina.
Local citizens, Rowena Ashe and he great niece Keturah Algood, Ray Smith and Shirley Reagan will talk about local history and people.
Around 3:00-3:30 we will all join in song around the piano to sing old time hymns we sang as children. We will be accompanied by pianist Keith’s Reid.
At 4:00 our Cathey’s Creek Cloggers will show us what they have learned from world champion dancer Sammy Simpson here at the community center.
While all this is happening our Crafty Ladies will be seated in our make believe parlor demonstrating their handy work.
A poor man’s supper will be served at 6:00 prepared by the ladies on our board of directors.

This entire event is in honor of our oldest citizens Miss Bonnie Bracken who is a young 100 years old. She is a part of our Crafty Ladies and will be taking part in the demonstrations.
