Learn to ferment vegetables! During the workshop we will show you 2 different fermentation techniques and explain the safety and why it is a good idea to do this. Then you will make your own sauerkraut that you can take with you. We have prepared samples in advance, so that you can taste 4 different items. After the workshop you will go home with your own jar of homemade sauerkraut, recipes and instructions.
This workshop includes a simple plant-based lunch, coffee and tea.
Please bring a glass jar of approximately 1 liter, with an opening large enough for your hand to fit into.
Fermented foods have been around for thousands of years. The discovery of fermentation dates back to 6000 BC. Nearly every culture on Earth has a tradition of fermenting as a way to preserve their crops. In some cultures, fermentation is a crucial measure of food safety, as the use of salts and the fermentation process ensures that the food is safe to consume. Not only is it a celebrated culinary and cultural practice, it also has incredible health benefits, including adding beneficial bacteria to our gut, preserving vitamins and minerals, and supporting an overall healthy digestive system.

You will become less dependent on commercial food systems, you will know exactly what is in your food and learn to eliminate a lot of packaging from your life. Plus, it is an excellent skill to combine with your vegetable garden so that nothing goes to waste.
