Reconnecting with nature via a beautiful blend of ethnobotany, storytelling and creative writing.
Have you ever held an acorn in your hand and wondered at the world it contains within? Have you ever sat with a tree, and imagined its story - past, present and future?
Join writer and broadcaster Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent and ethnobotanist Pridie Tiernan on this immersive nature-based writing workshop, where you'll explore and deepen your connection with the more than human world via a beautiful blend of ethnobotany, storytelling and joyful writing exercises.
It's easy to feel disconnected from our natural world - we spend so much time indoors we often forget what’s happening in nature. And the less we interact with the natural world, the more detached we can feel. Engaging in simple outdoor practices, tuning in to the folklore and stories of our plants, trees and creatures, and exploring all that we think and feel in these moments through our own writing, can offer us a beautiful opportunity to rekindle that relationship.
Antonia and Pridie share a passion for exploring how practical and storied immersion in nature can connect people with the natural world. The more we become engaged with nature, the more we want to do all we can to protect it!
In essence this workshop is a very gentle form of environmental activism, done through the joyful medium of ethnobotany, outdoor storytelling and the written word. We'll be sharing stories around the fire, encountering some of the 'old ways' of interacting with the land, and getting creative with some imaginative, uplifting writing exercises that will help you sink deeper into the folds of the natural world.

About Pridie
Pridie Tiernan is an ethnobotanist and storyteller committed to reconnecting us with the plants we once used to nourish, nurture and heal. She weaves a rich mix of oral storytelling into the teaching of wilderness skills; rekindling our relationship with the natural world and empowering us to feel at one with the wild.
As an ethnobotanist, Pridie has long been fascinated by the power of plants. Her sensory herbalism, seasonal woodcraft and rewilding workshops, draw our native flora onto centre stage, embracing them as a potent way of gaining insight into ourselves and our place in the world, taking control of our bodies, and tapping into the magic of the natural world.
As a storyteller, she has spent many years performing stories that create a sense of familiarity and connection with nature, especially in those that gift us the opportunity to explore the concept of our "wild self" - that powerful, untamed force connected to the natural world that can be both nurturing and fierce, instinctual, passionate and creative. Her work encourages a reconnection with that wildness - rediscovering our feral inventiveness and power - through the sharing of ancient stories and the teaching of practical survival skills.
