Artist Emily Noelle Lambert leads a collage-making workshop at River Gallery School in Brattleboro, Vermont, in connection with the group exhibition MAKING SPACE.
In this hands-on workshop, Lambert will encourage attendees to explore the intersection of collage with sculpture, drawing, and painting. Participants will develop a small series of mixed media works that blur the boundaries between mediums. Similar to Lambert’s own studio practice, participants will have the opportunity to reimagine raw materials into something entirely new or use old work as the foundation for fresh discoveries.
Participants are encouraged to bring materials to share with the group, such as old drawings, fabrics, seed catalogs, magazines, book covers, doodles, and found papers. Paper, scissors, and adhesives will be provided.
An associate professor of drawing and painting at Keene State College, Lambert creates large-scale paintings and sculptures. She holds an MFA in Painting from Hunter College and a BA in Visual Art from Antioch College. Previously, she taught at Parsons School of Design, Yeshiva University, and Fordham University.
On view until Nov. 2, Making Space features sculpture, painting, drawing, and mixed-media works by seven artists who explore the concept of physical and metaphorical spaces and our relationships to them.
This workshop is best suited for adults, ages 16+.
