Come learn the joyful springtime folk dance that makes Windham County famous!
The Morris Dance group "Windham" is offering an introductory class in the new year. This six-class session begins with the basic steps and will get you started building a repertoire of ready-to-perform dances.
These vigorous, athletic dances have roots in Lichfield, England and have been performed in Southern Vermont for generations. The dances feature spirited leaps into the air, energetic stick clashes, and the cheerful ringing of bells. This swaggering celebration of the season and camaraderie brings a smile to participants and audience alike.
Instruction will be provided by folk dance experts Arthur Davis and Laurel Swift. With musical accompaniment by local legend Andy Davis, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss!
No prior experience needed. Whether your New Year’s resolution is to get more exercise, learn something new, or get out and socialize, Morris Dancing will start your year on the right foot!
