About the event

Algorithmic Racism in Computer-Generated Imagery
Professor Theodore Kim will be our guest speaker on October 18, 2025

About this Event

Many of the algorithms we take for granted in computer graphics contain insidious assumptions about race. These include the algorithms used to generate the Shrek, Lord of the Rings, Frozen, and Marvel Cinematic Universe film franchises. However, instead of perpetuating the prejudices of previous eras, can we engage in anti-racist research that works to dismantle it?
