October 17th Learning Session: Peter Sawatzky, Bronze Sculptor

Peter Sawatzky has recently installed bronze statues at the Discovery Centre and he will share his insights and artistic journey.
Peter grew up in his family farm near Sommerfeld, MB. He attended the commercial art program at Red River College in Winnipeg, MM.
In 1974, Sawatzky discovered his true interest in wooden bird sculptures-a combination of his fascination with bird life and his skill in carving. He has a long list of international awards and exhibitions as a sculptor. In 1980, his success allowed him to set up his own foundry, enabling him to work in bronze.
Sawatzky’s passion for wildlife and the natural environment continues to provide direction and focus to his career. In recognition of his work, Peter Sawatzky received the Order of. A it’s a in 2008, and currently lives in Glenboro, MB.
TALC's Learning Sessions are held 9:30-11:30 am on the first and third Fridays of each month at Brandon University in the Education Building - Room 107.
Our presentations cover a broad range of topics that are bound to spark your interest. There are no entrance requirements or tests. IT'S FREE and THERE ARE NO OBLIGATIONS.
Presentations usually last around 2 hours and consists of a 45 to 60 minute presentation, a refreshment break and time to socialise, an informative discussion.
TALC presentations are also usually broadcast on Access 12 following each presentation on Wednesdays at 10am, and Saturdays at 11:30am. (Please note that not all presenters will agree to being filmed.)
