Tree Canada, with the support of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. This is the biggest NTD celebration yet, with events taking place across the country during National Forest Week.Join us to plant trees and shrubs in Claireville Conservation Area and connect with nature. Tree Canada experts and volunteers will be there to provide support and answer your tree questions. We’ll also provide gloves and shovels! This event is completely FREE!
This site is part of a multi-year restoration initiative involving priority projects. It offers significant opportunities to expand and enhance the existing forest edge, naturalize former agricultural fields, and create valuable wildlife habitat. There is strong potential to further increase natural cover, support greater wildlife diversity, and improve overall ecosystem health throughout the area.
Many of the native shrubs included in the planting are flowering species, which will serve as important sources of forage and habitat for native pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.
You will assist by digging holes, planting trees and shrubs, applying mulch around the plantings, and installing protective guards around the newly planted deciduous trees.
This is a catered event! Volunteers can grab a snack and beverage, courtesy of Starbucks.
Volunteers should wear and bring the following:
