Red Threads: Traditional Paper Cut Art Workshop
Discover the intricate craft of Chinese papercutting and its deep symbolism through hands-on guided instruction!

About this Event


Learn the intricate folk art of Chinese papercutting!

As part of Ontario Culture Days, participants will explore the symbolism and storytelling found in traditional paper cut designs while creating their own artwork using scissors, X-acto knives, and red paper. Guided by cultural context and hands-on instruction, this workshop is both meditative and meaningful.

Registration is recommended to secure your spot, but drop-ins are welcome if space allows. Light refreshments will be provided.




About the Workshop Series


Moon & Memory is a vibrant, intergenerational series of hands-on art workshops celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival through storytelling, food, folklore, and community. Led by illustrator Meegan Lim, the series offers creative ways to connect with East and Southeast Asian heritage across four unique sessions.

Workshops include:

  • (Ages 13+)
  • (Ages 18+)
  • (Ages 13+)
  • (Ages 5–12+)

Each invites participants of all ages to explore cultural traditions and create meaningful art in welcoming community spaces throughout Brampton. Join us for one workshop, or dive into the full series and experience the joy of art, culture, and connection!




About the Artist Facilitator

Meegan Lim is an illustrator and arts facilitator whose work bridges visual storytelling with community engagement. Drawing inspiration from her East and Southeast Asian heritage, she creates art that celebrates food, culture, and shared experiences. Meegan’s workshops are rooted in accessibility, creativity, and connection, and she has led programs for festivals, schools, and cultural organizations across the GTA.
