Changing Tracks: The History of Poynton's Stations

Learn about Poynton’s three stations - Midway, Poynton and Higher Poynton, take a close look at scale models of each one, read Glyn Derbyshire's (former Poynton Stationmaster) own accounts of station life and browse countless photos and facts about the Town’s railway history.

Step back in time with us to when Higher Poynton was an active station in this free pop-up event. Meet the friendly Stationmaster who has stepped right out of the year 1930. Ask him about his duties at Higher Poynton, the running of the station, and more! Learn about why the Middlewood Way came to be and Higher Poynton as a working station. Get up close to one of Brookside Miniature Railway’s engines or buy a flag and kids can have a go at a train themed craft!

Enjoy Railway 200 special journeys with Miss Katie and Graham diesel hydraulic engines. They’ll be dressed for the occasion with a commemorative plaque on the front!
All passengers will receive a free badge to celebrate the day!
