Thu 9/18, Botanical Drawing & Mini Arrangements, 7-10pm

In this new beginner friendly art workshop, Artist Madison Kutz, will guide you how to get started drawing what you see, specifically flowers & botanicals that you can arrange in an adorable little vase. Madison will demonstrate line of action, blocking out basic shapes, achieving different shading techniques (including cross hatching, stippling, and blending), demystify the necessary drawing supplies, and encourage ways of seeing subject matter that will improve your art. Everyone will get a chance to practice these techniques before moving on to the second part of the class, where you will arrange your own mini flower bouquet before capturing it on paper in your drawing. You will have plenty of time to sketch your arrangement while Madison offers individual advice and answers any questions you may have about pencil drawing. You’ll leave the class with a great foundation of skills that you can reach for and build upon every time you practice! Each student will get one small arrangement in a small vase consisting of 2-3 flowers & some greenery.

Artist Bio: Madison Kutz went to school for Fine Arts at Allegheny College, before she transferred to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Animation. Her artistic work stretches across digital, fiber, and traditional mediums to focus on community and sustainability. She is a constant knitter, dedicated sweater darner, animator, and painter, among many other things.
