Dear Recovery Community,
We are honored to invite you to join us in celebrating recovery and helping to break the stigma surrounding addiction at a special event taking place at the Massachusetts State House on Friday, September 19th at 10:00 AM.
Project Redemption is a collaborative effort between Alyssa’s Place at the AED Foundation and Photography by Veronika Patty. The project’s mission is to humanize addiction and recovery by sharing the faces and stories of those who have experienced substance use disorder (SUD).
People in treatment and recovery are our colleagues and neighbors, our parents, grandparents, children, and friends. They represent every walk of life—soldiers, lawyers, business owners, students, and teachers. Many have faced trauma or mental health challenges. Above all, they are human beings who deserve compassion, dignity, and respect. Every life matters, and everyone should have the chance for redemption.
This will be our second time bringing Project Redemption to the State House, and this year promises to be even more impactful—with many more photographs, inspiring speakers, and a reception in the historic Great Hall. We will also feature a resource table showcasing Massachusetts Peer Recovery Centers, offering opportunities for networking, education, and connection.
Our goals for this event are to:
• Break the stigma of addiction and celebrate the strength of those in recovery
• Inspire individuals still struggling with SUD to seek help
• Engage elected officials in meaningful conversations about SUD and recovery
• Foster connections among peer recovery centers across the state
Please RSVP using the link below. You are warmly welcome to attend even if you choose not to host a resource table.

For those of you I have worked with before, it will be a joy to see your photographs displayed in such an important space. For those I have not yet met, I hope this event offers a meaningful introduction to our work together.
With gratitude and hope,
