First-Gen Common Read

Join us for a first-gen “book club” style discussion of BU’s first Common Read book, Orbital by Samantha Harvey. The BU Common Read is a new BU tradition that invites all Terriers to read and discuss the same book and have meaningful conversations and engagement with our community! No matter how much of the book you've read, join the Newbury Center community for conversation, snacks, and connection. Our discussion will focus on first-gen themes in the book.

Free physical copies of Orbital are available at BU Libraries branch service desks and at the Newbury Center while supplies last. First year students can also request a digital copy on a rolling basis. Snacks will be provided!
