An Afternoon in the FPAC Art Space

The Fort Point Free Music Collective invites you to An Afternoon in FPAC Gallery Space — a celebration of visual and musical arts on Saturday, November 23rd at 3:00 PM.

This monthly performance series showcases free improvisation in all its forms, highlighting the diverse methodologies, textures, and communities that shape Boston’s experimental music scene. No two performances are ever the same — each event offers a new constellation of performers, instruments, and sounds created entirely in the moment.

Founded in June 2023, the Collective began its journey in the Fort Point Lyric Room and has since become a gathering point for local improvisers, sound artists, and curious listeners. Through its performances, the group has rediscovered Fort Point’s long history as a home for improvising musicians — a creative energy they’re now helping to reignite.

Audience members are warmly encouraged to listen deeply, engage with the performers, and ask questions about the practice and process of improvisation.

“We see this project as both a continuation and a rediscovery,” says founder Kimmie Sabio. “Improvised music has long been a part of Fort Point’s creative fabric — we’re simply giving it space to breathe again.”

The Fort Point Free Music Collective is an open and evolving community. Each concert features different artists, instrumentation, and collaborative approaches — spanning free jazz, electroacoustic improvisation, and experimental sound art.
