Festival of Lessons and Carols

The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a Christian worship service that tells the story of the Nativity through nine short Bible readings (lessons) interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols and hymns. It is a popular Christmas Eve tradition, most famously broadcast from King's College, Cambridge, and has been celebrated since 1918 to mark the beginning of Christmas with a meditative and joyful service.
