Planning an event and fancy making your own invitations with beautifully written message ?
Join me for 2.5 hours of modern calligraphy using a pointed pen and ink at The Old Barn in Edinburgh.
You will learn:
- how to prepare the nib and hold the pointed pen and paper for comfort
- the basic strokes that form letters
- practise writing the alphabet (upper- and lower case)
- how to join letters to form words
- practise writing words and phrases for events, such as birthdays, celebrations, weddings before moving onto your final project writing your very own invitation
All material is provided and for you to take home to continue practising your new skill. Your calligraphy kit includes a workbook with practise sheets, templates and guidelines, a pointed pen, a Nikko G nib, black Sumi ink and 2 invitation cards with matching envelopes. Tea, coffee and homemade cake is also included.
No experience in calligraphy needed. The class is suitable for beginners as you will be guided through to the essentials of modern calligraphy with demonstrations. I will also provide you with one-to-one tuition. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and it doesn't require neat handwriting or drawing skills.
As we will be working with ink, we recommend not wearing your best clothes".
