The foundations of crafting personal stories

While many storytellers have dived into the techniques of telling myths and folktales, telling personal stories is an art of its own – an art that forces us to look at our creative powers to make a story where before there was none, and to find meaning in the mundane. The art of telling a personal story elevates the skills of newcomers to the art of storytelling as well as experienced professionals.
We will create a strong foundation for making personal stories, learning practical tools that immediately can be put into use after taking this course.
Dozent:
Sahand Sahebdivani is a master storyteller born in Iran and based in the Netherlands. He is considered to be one of the founders of the contemporary storytelling scene in the Netherlands. He started the popular storytelling club Mezrab and is the co-founder of the Mezrab Storytelling School. He has travelled to many international stages, from Canada to Lithuania and Turkey, with a combination of ancient myths and legends as well as the true stories of himself and his parents and grandparents. Often, he weaves the two styles together into a complex tapestry. In 2014 he was named Storyteller of the Year by the Dutch society of storytelling. In 2017 he won the Amsterdam Fringe Gold Award with the show My father held a gun, which he co-created with Raphael Rodan.
