An 1860’s Civil War era craft...the popularity of Traditional Rug Hooking is seeing the largest resurgence since the 1940’s and is growing nationwide.
Using strips of pre-cut wool fabric, a cotton monks cloth foundation and a hook that looks much like a crochet hook with a wooden handle, Diane will teach the basic hooking methods. She will help students learn the "rhythm" of rug hooking as well as learning "loop to loop" and "row to row" hooking, diagonal hooking, turning a squared corner, and hooking points.
You will also be given basic instructional handouts in class AND a nifty 68-page binder full of helpful tips, techniques & bountiful resources.
The kit chosen for our beginners is called: Star "Hit or Miss" Rug (16" x 21"). It may not be a design of your first choice; however...it is definitely one that will teach you all the basics that will allow you to tackle most any pattern after that! **Do be sure to view several FUN variations of this design done by some of Diane’s students at the website link below!😃
Each kit comes complete with the pre-drawn design on the monk’s cloth, pre-cut strips of hand-dyed wool, finishing tape & photo.
