About the event

Community Reading with Boise City Writer-in-Residence Alan Heathcock
We hope you’ll join Boise City Writer-in-Residence Alan Heathcock on September 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Erma Hayman House for a Community Reading and Celebration of the Written Word.

Over the past several months, writers of all backgrounds and experience levels have explored Heathcock’s workshop series, The Five Tenets of Literary Potency, a distilled approach to crafting compelling, impactful stories. Now, we gather to share the results.

Alan Heathcock will reflect on his journey of writing, editing, publishing, and teaching, offering insight into the five fundamental elements that make stories unforgettable, and read from a work in progress. He’ll also be joined by community readers, who will share excerpts from their own work inspired by the workshop series.

Whether you’re a writer, reader, or simply someone who loves a good story, this event is an opportunity to celebrate the creative spirit and hear voices from across our community.

No registration is required, but space is limited. As mature content may be discussed, parental discretion is advised for participants under 18.
