Quilt for Care Leavers – Block Drive Sewing Session 💙
We’re coming together to stitch blocks for the Quilts for Care Leavers charity, helping to create quilts that will be gifted to young people leaving the care system. Each block sewn is a small but meaningful act of kindness, and together they become something truly special.
If you’re a member of the Q4CL Makers Group and the Q4CL Block Drive Group, you’ll be able to see all the full details there, including block sizes, patterns, and how the finished blocks will be used.
Fabrics to bring for this block drive
For each block, you’ll need two fabrics only, chosen from one colour family:
• Two shades of blue
• Two shades of purple / lilac
• Two shades of pink
• Two shades of turquoise / teal
• One black fabric and one grey fabric
• One black fabric and one red fabric
✨ Please do not mix different colour families within a single block.
Fabric style guidelines
To help everything work beautifully together in the final quilts:
• ❌ No flowers
• ❌ No multicoloured prints
• ✔️ Solids, tone-on-tones, blenders, or fabrics that read as solids are ideal
• ✔️ Prints are fine if they are predominantly one colour and paired with a plain fabric
• ❌ Two busy prints together won’t work well
Whether you make one block or a few, every contribution helps. This is a relaxed, supportive sewing session, and I’ll be on hand to help if you need guidance with the block construction.
