The Mojitos are back!!! An amazing original band that also throw in some great covers. One not to be missed.
Firstly, tell us how the band came about and who is in the band.
The Mojitos are Al, Kev, Mark and Paul. Al and Kev have been friends since they were practically snot nosed bairns, Mark and Kev went to school together and Mark has been mates with and jamming with Al and Kev since the 1990’s…and Paul (and former member Sam) completed the line up after responding to an add online and in local music shops. Additionally, the band line-up has featured Georgia, Sarah and Eddie The Goose at various times. The Mojitos were born in October 2007.
Why: The Mojitos?
It's a cool drink, a Mojito. The word is derived from 'Mojo'..we just liked the name and it stuck. It gives us the perfect after-gig drink to order too!
Do you write your own songs?
Yup - all The Mojitos material is original music. We occasionally play the odd cover version if we really fancy performing a particular song, but it's the exception rather then the norm.
What are your songs about?
Usually personal experience and observations about life. Sometimes a particular phrase will inspire a song, or a melody, or a feeling about something happening in our lives.
Who are your musical influences?
It varies - each band member has their own musical tastes, so when you bring it all together it creates a bit of a cocktail. Generally, I'd say The Beatles, The Stones, Queen, Bob Dylan, Hendrix, The Beach Boys...The Chili Peppers, The Jam, Genesis....loads of stuff really.
How do you describe your music to people?
Pop/Rock, tuneful, catchy, riffy, rock and roll.
What do you want people to get out of your music?
Good question! It varies according to the song and the vibe we are trying to create. Could be enjoyment..a smile...a party..emotions..a feel good vibe with running social commentary. The great thing about music is how all life and emotions can be mirrored through it.
