From his recordings to collaborations with Steve Earle, Beyoncé, the Chicks, and Emmylou Harris, Scott mines and cultivates the everyday moment. He takes the rote, menial, and mundane and allows it to be surreal, ever poignant, and candidly honest, blooming, and resonating. On his albums such as Family Tree, Theatre of the Unheard, Live at the Station Inn, and Jaroso, Scott’s words help listeners make sense of the world and our place in it.
Anthony Childress will open the evening on stage. Childress’ project is composed of a trio of friends based out of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. They offer familiar songs in unfamiliar ways, as well as many originals that offer an emotional connection to the music. The trio will be joined by Bristol, Tennessee’s, Blake Collins. Collins is a mandolinist known for his unique sound that bridges tradition and innovation. Rooted in the rich heritage of bluegrass, Collins draws inspiration from an eclectic range of styles bringing a distinctive voice to every project.
The performance is sponsored by the Northeast State Community College Foundation and will benefit the Entertainment Technology and Economic and Workforce Development student programs. Tickets are General Admission seating. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Tennessee Hills will be onsite as well as local food trucks 2 to Taco, Fisher’s NY Style Pizza and Smashed Tri-Cities.
