Join the Museum's Senior Director of Education, Candace Summers, for an illustrated program that will explore the many facets of death, mourning, and remembrance from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century in McLean County.
This free, public program will be held in-person in the Museum's second floor courtroom and live-streamed via youtube.com/mchistorymuseum on Saturday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m.
Summers will bring to life stories from our past, sharing information about mourning rituals and superstitions, burial practices, monument makers, famous McLean County funerals, and lead reflective discussions on how we keep the memory of those who have passed alive.
This program is being held in conjunction with our current display Mourning in McLean: The Story of Death, Grieving, and Funerary Customs in McLean County, which will be up through November 21, 2025.
Mourning in McLean is made possible through the support of our presenting sponsor Pontiac Granite Co., with major support from East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, and additional contributions provided by Evergreen Memorial Cemetery and Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home.
