About the event

Curator-led Tour: Portraiture and Archives in African Photography
Join us for our final public tour of this featured exhibition. Enjoy an expert-led exploration with Dr. Allison Martino and Pious Amissah.

Portraiture and Archives in African Photography explores how artists of African descent have approached portraiture in historical and contemporary photography, how contemporary artists use and engage with photographic archives, as well as new directions in portrait photography among contemporary lens-based artists working in West Africa. It features work by Malick Sidibé’, Tijani Sitou, Zohra Opoku. and Ibrahima Thiam, including a newly commissioned artwork by Thiam, made specifically for this exhibition.

This tour provides a rare opportunity to not only see these artworks together in one place, but also to spend time looking at the artwork with curatorial staff.

Space is limited to 15 participants. RSVP to reserve a space at https://events.iu.edu/artmuseum/event/1981484-curator-led-tour-portraiture-and-archives-in

Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. If this page says “registration has closed”, this means that registration and the waitlist have filled for this date and time.
