Andrew Todd is an award-winning, hyper-indie writer-filmmaker from New Zealand and Canada. At 22, he got his Fine Arts Honours degree and self-produced his feature debut GHOST SHARK 2: URBAN JAWS; now, he’s launching his idiosyncratic stories, finely-honed craft, and subversion of genre into the global industry.
An experienced stage/screen freelancer with 70+ professional credits, Andrew’s stageplays and short films have won numerous awards for their writing, production, and technical craft, and his shorts have played at genre festivals around the world. He spent seven years managing New Zealand's beloved short filmmaking competition 48HOURS, and eight years as a film critic, jurying for festivals like Fantastic Fest alongside luminaries like Leonard Maltin and Edgar Wright.
Andrew co-founded script services company Freak Development in 2024 with partner Cathasaigh Ó Fiannachta, and serves on the boards of the NZ Writers Guild and Canterbury screen advocacy group Te Puna Matarau. He has multiple feature film and television projects in development.
