Lessons and Carols and Holy Eucharist

This service will be in-person only and will be our only Christmas Service (no Christmas Day Service on the 25th). The service of The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was first read and sung on Christmas Eve in King’s College Chapel, Cambridge University, England, 1918. It was constructed by the Very Reverend E.M. Miller-White, Dean of King’s, using as a model, a version that dates from the mid-nineteenth century. The service has been read and sung at St. Peter’s every year since 1989, usually on Christmas Eve, except in 1993 when the church building was temporarily closed. The service, as read and sung at St. Peter’s, is very traditional, including only traditional carols and using the form of the 1918 Service at King’s College, although we use the Revised Standard Version (RSV) of the Bible. If you want to attend in person and are not among our usual parishioners, please message us or leave a comment on our page so we can be best prepared for everyone. We will also host a small reception with light refreshments in the Parish Hall after the service for those who wish to join us. Father Joe will also deliver communion to anyone in the Blairsville area who requests it.
