Our third annual Williams Walk-A-Thon is fast approaching and is now only FOUR WEEKS away...
This event will be so much fun for the whole family and one you don't want to miss.
Thanks to our amazing community support, last year we raised a life changing $25,000, which has helped to provide families who have children with Williams Syndrome an opportunity to attend a weekend camp where they could spend some quality time together whilst networking with other families going through the same struggles. This year, our goal is to not only raise even more than ever before, but to also hold a community event that is memorable for everyone who attends.
Why Williams Syndrome?
Children and adults with Williams Syndrome are some of the kindest, most generous, and loving individuals you'll ever meet. They have a unique perspective on the world and bring so much joy and positivity to those around them. Despite the challenges they face, they remain optimistic, friendly, and full of love. So our goal with this fundraiser is to show these incredible individuals that the world is just as kind and generous as they are. We want to demonstrate that their kindness and generosity are valued and reciprocated, and that they're not alone in their journey.
What is Williams Syndrome?
Williams Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that is caused by the detection of genetic material on chromosome 7. Typical characteristics include distinctive facial features, mild intellectual disability and an overly sociable personality...... but Sana, who is now 16 years old, is so much more than that. She is one of the kindest and most generous people we have been lucky to meet. Despite the challenges she faces, she has grown into an inspiring young individual who sees her condition as "something special inside her heart." Her story, attached, is a testament to her courage and determination. Sana will be attending the event and is very excited to meet and see all of the families that come along to show their love and support.
What will happen at the Williams Syndrome Walk-A-Thon?
The event will kick off with a fun-filled walk around the beautiful gardens of Nurragingy. (Everyone is encouraged to collect sponsors before the event by asking their family, friends and neighbours to sponsor them for the walk. Sponsor forms are available at the centre). After the walk there will be special appearances from Chase and Skye from Paw Patrol, lots of fun activities, a silent auction with amazing prizes and a BBQ lunch with delicious sweets. The event will finish off with our BIGGEST and most AMAZING raffle with over 100 prizes!!
