International Women's Day parkrun is all about celebrating female participation and we would love to welcome as many women and girls as possible to parkrun on Saturday 7 March. Saturdays are also known as parkrun day, so what could be more fitting than to put a special focus on girls’ and women’s participation at parkrun on this day? International Women’s Day falls on Sunday 8 March 2026 this year.
We’d love you to join in the celebrations by bringing along a friend, colleague or family member. Tell them about parkrun, share your enthusiasm and dispel any concerns that might prevent women and girls from trying parkrun. Maybe offer to walk or run together?
Let’s work together to inspire women and girls to come to parkrun.
The fear of not being fit enough, being ‘too slow’, not having volunteered before, coming alone or the uncertainty of what to expect are just some of the barriers that women and girls in particular face.
Help show that parkrun is for everyone – regardless of age, background, fitness level or gender.
Join us for your weekly/ first/ 50th/ 100th parkrun fix - this week celebrating female participation. Wear purple, green or white (bold suffragette colours) or a badass t-shirt!

The theme for 2026 is ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls’, emphasising the power of reciprocity and support. Support a friend and bring them along. Support our community by volunteering. Help create a supportive and interconnected world, rally with women and girls around the world to demand equal rights – and equal justice to enforce, exercise, and enjoy those rights.
