The Forest Exploration Program Series presents, "Fire in the Landscape"

Ever wondered how fire sculpts the Black Hills? Join us on the Buzzards Roost Trail (Mystic Ranger District) for a journey into the story of fire in the Black Hills. This isn't just a hike; it's an exploration of fire's profound influence on the landscape, its wild inhabitants, and the resilient plant life that thrives in its wake.

This hike provides a unique opportunity to understand the critical role fire plays in the health of our forests and how the Black Hills National Forest actively manages fire to promote biodiversity, keeps its residence safe, and the incredible recovery of nature after a burn.

With our instructors, you'll get to learn about the forest's resilience firsthand and learn about the science and care that keeps it thriving.

Designed for families and individuals, this class is completely free.
