Annual Bitely Boys Rib Cookoff. Everyone welcome to participate and/or eat. Teams will be cooking or bringing a side dish in addition to the ribs. If you're just coming for the food and would like to bring a side dish to pass, please do. It will be greatly appreciated. We are asking for a $10 donation per person for the meal.
*****OFFICIAL RULES*****
~Must register IN ADVANCE no later than Oct. 1st to ensure we have ribs for your team.
~$50 entry fee per team includes 3 racks of ribs. Fee MUST be paid prior to receiving your ribs.
~Ribs can be picked up after 8am at the Bitely Tavern.
~ONLY those ribs provided by the club are eligible for the competition. NO outside ribs allowed.
~ALL ribs must be cooked on site. No pre-cooking allowed.
~Rib preparation can be via smoker, grill, open top, gas, electric, charcoal, etc. of your choosing that utilizes heat to cook (no liquid bath). Whatever you choose, bring it. We do not provide cooking appliances.
~No parboiling or oil frying permitted.
~No prior preparation (marinating, seasoning, etc.) allowed before 8am on the day of the event.
~Ribs to be submitted for judgment MUST be ready to serve by 4pm.
~Each team should also provide at least one additional dish. This can be an additional main, side, app. or desert. They can be prepared on site or brought in and will not be judged but need to be ready to serve by 5pm for the dinner which is open to the public.
~The judging panel (TBA) will judge your ribs on:
+Taste
+Appearance
+Aroma
+Tenderness
+Overall Appeal
~Judges will give a score of "1"(low) to "10"(high) for each of the 5 categories. Winner will be the team with the highest total sum of the 5 scores.
~Judging will be by blind tasting and judges will not know who's ribs they are judging.
~There will also be a "People's Choice" winner with anyone purchasing a dinner getting a vote for their favorite.
