The Armed Man: a Mass for Peace by Sir Karl Jenkins

Bishop's Stortford Choral Society and the Bishop's Stortford Sinfonia present The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Sir Karl Jenkins.

The work was originally commissioned by the Royal Armouries for the new millennium and dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo conflict. It is based on a 15th-century French poem L’homme armé, and remains a powerful and moving reflection on the horror of war and its consequences.

Now In its 25th anniversary year, The Armed Man recently reached the highest ever position for a work by a living composer in the Classic FM Hall of Fame; its arrival at number two marks it as Britain’s favourite piece of contemporary classical music for the third year in a row.

The choir will also perform Edward Elgar's Te Deum & Benedictus.

The concert will take place in the festive surroundings of the Bishop’s Stortford College Memorial Hall and starts at 7.30pm.
