A one-off school reunion in tribute to Barrie ‘The Rev’ / 'Barrington Steele' Young.
A long time ago in an old city pub far, far away... Ded Skool Dizko was born. Created by the much loved and much missed Birmingham Goff, who devised a night where you could attend "the best school disco that you never went to".
"WHAT IS DED SKOOL DIZKO?" For those who never shared the experience, Ded Skool Dizko is an event where multiple genres of floor filling (yet unexpected) tracks are dropped. It's not a Goth night or one specific genre. Expect more of an open house with choices delivered by open-minded DJ's - embracing their mixed and eclectic tastes with a cheeky concept of "Musical Swinging". All delivered to great effect with the music we grew up on from the 60's through to the 90's (and beyond)! It is delivered with a unique flair and more choice than you ever thought you needed. An event where everybody is welcome.
Back for one night only with the original Ded Skool DJs and staff who are:
DJ Mitz
DJ Brandi Snaps
DJ Ted Wildbillbuttock
DJ Chris Hayden-Wilding
**And of the upmost importance, the headmasters P.A., Miss Demeanor (Dawn) and the girl with the changing room reputation (and will do anything for a Mars Bar), Starr!
No tuck shop or warm watery orange squash, just a room of warmth and love for Baz with some excellent music and a video tribute as we ‘unplug the jukebox’.
WHAT SHALL I WEAR? At the original events, school uniform was very much encouraged (but optional). Wear what you like or dress how you feel! However, black was also the Headmaster’s favourite colour. Dress up! Dress to shock! But come and have a ball
IMPORTANT INFO: This is a charity event in support of The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Barrie was a dedicated and firm supporter of this charity. Upon his recent passing, Barrie's daughter requested that any donations were to be made to the charity. We are going to add to those donations in his name with all profits going to the foundation. There will also be S.O.P.H.I.E wristbands on sale, with the foundation being fully supportive of the event (and thankful of all monies and donations raised). Buying your ticket will make a change for a very, very worthwhile cause.
Ded Skool Dizko has re-established itself in its new home of Whitby under the watchful eye of School Mistress Brandi Snaps, (who was given honourable consent by Barrie). But for this event, it returns back home to its Birmingham roots where everyone can join in, share the warmth and love we have all built together.
FOR BARRIE: Video screens will display photos of previous events. When we reach midnight, we will all raise our glasses in remembrance and celebrate the love for our dearly departed friend as this event will fall on what would have been Barrie's birthday. Let us remember him and celebrate in the way he would want us all to share.
TICKETS: Tickets for this event are priced at £10 each in advance (or £14 on the door where applicable). All profits from your purchase will be donated to the foundation. They can be purchased here:

PLEASE NOTE: We strongly advise buying tickets in advance as once we reach capacity - no further admittance will be allowed (for Health and Safety measures).
One last time... One last Ded Skool Dizko reunion on Saturday 28th February 2026 at Hennesseys, Allison Street Birmingham 8pm to 1am (The function room can be found at the rear entrance on Meriden Street).
In tribute to (and) in loving memory of our dearly missed friend.
