Understanding OCD

Acting Out delivers a performance based workshop, bringing to life a person’s struggle with his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The workshop presents a scenario, designed to highlight the all consuming nature of OCD and invites the audience to share their observations of how the character responded to his anxious thoughts and compulsions. A second scenario will suggest ways of how the character faces up to his thoughts and resists the urge to act on his compulsions, with the opportunity for further insights and discussion.

What will I gain?

• An understanding of OCD from a psycho-educational perspective.
• Awareness of the factors that maintain OCD.
• Awareness of how the nervous system responds to threat.
• The opportunity to share ideas about what can help to better manage thoughts and compulsions.
