We are excited to announce the second FREE ADMISSION film to play at Art House Cinema and Pub as part of our annual partnership with MSUB for their International Studies and Foreign Language program! This year, MSUB is covering the Andean Community, a South American region consisting of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, and the second film to play to celebrate the regions cinematic culture will be the 2022 Bolivian drama, UTAMA, screening Tuesday, October 21st!
UTAMA is a powerful, rich, and incredibly deep film about human resilience and the will to survive and resist against struggles brought on by the world! Starring two striking elderly Quechua people in their only roles, and beautifully shot in ways that captures the stunning landscapes of the region, UTAMA is an enlightening and engaging film you don't want to miss!
In the Bolivian altiplano, an elderly couple Quechua farmers named Virginio and Sisa have lived a quiet life for years, but they find their existence challenged when an unusually long drought refuses to change. The couple is then faced with a dilemma that forces them to resist the harsh elements or succumb to the environment and the relentless passage of time!
