The BJM presents...'Medicine show' a monthly live music night, showcasing original singer-songwriters at an unusual venue. Furnace Brook, Cowbeech, near Hailsham, is a beautiful and inspiring spot where themes of renewal and reimagining are all around. For me, this resonates closely with what it is to be a singer-songwriter. Catharsis occurs for both performer and audience - there is a connection, something lifts. Music is medicine. Jim Tipler and Jo Church, aka Milton Hide, will surprise you… …in a good way. From Wilmington in East Sussex the duo write and perform eloquent, well-crafted songs with multiple instruments and harmonies. They will transport you into a fascinating, sometimes hilarious world of stories. Steeped in the traditions of American folk, country, gospel and blues, Tom's is an Americana style of Alt Country meets Greenwich Village Folk Revival. Hailing from Hastings on the South Coast of England, Tom crafts heartfelt songs from everyday life, with a softly understated vocal style underpinned by a mix of Merle Travis style fingerpicking and country flatpicking.
